Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychiatrist
Dr. Sheehan completed his undergraduate training at The Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia in 1984 with a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering with Highest Honors. He then completed medical school at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, AL in 1988. He served his internship and residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital from 1988 to 1991 prior to completing his Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia in 1993. He served on the medical staff at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Mississippi from 1993-2000 as the Medical Director of the Adolescent Psychiatry Unit. He has been Board Certified in both Child & Adolescent Psychiatry and Adult Psychiatry since 1994. He Has medical licenses in the states of Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia.

Dr. Sheehan's initial assessment typically lasts 40-50 minutes. At this time he will complete a thorough evaluation of all your mental health symptoms and your background history. At the end of this assessment, Dr. Sheehan will explain your diagnosis with a tailor-made treatment plan including medications, possible bloodwork and other testing as indicated, and referral to the most appropriate counselor to fit your needs. Subsequent visits are typically scheduled monthly, last approximately 10 minutes, and are oriented towards adjusting your medication to help you or your child achieve an optimal response so you will feel and function your very best.
